BIOGRAPHY
In my teens I was a member of The Pegasus Theatre Group that was part of The Sheffield Playhouse. We performed regularly in the theatre as well as putting on performances elsewhere. It was during the performances at The Sheffield Playhouse that I came to love the excitement of being on stage. It was more than the acting and the singing that inspired me. The costumes, the music, magnificent scenery, the smell of dust and scenery paint created such an atmosphere; I knew that my future would have to be in something creative. Eventually I chose to specialise in Art and Design, developing drawing and designing skills. It was here that my love of colour with shape was born, studying designers like William Morris and Mary Quant. Some years ago, I started to get interested in the work of Harold Sharpe, a pioneer of the Auragraph. The colours and shapes fascinated me. To find that it was possible to ‘read’ these pictures, to tell the story of someone’s life and potential was incredible to me. This is where my passion for this art began. After practising with my own designs on friends and family, I decided to try them for others. Nowadays I find that my work changes constantly and I like to try out new ideas. I have recently started to specialise in Children’s Auragraphs. These are a little different; they have little charms attached to them, which the child can remove to hang on a bracelet or key ring. A sticker, also included just in case, can cover the small hole, left in the paper by the charm. I hope to have Auragraph cards available soon. There will be a choice of four designs for each month of the year. All cards will have a short Auragraph reading inside them, with space for you to write your own message. |
